Getting started
Create a VPS in Morocco: the step-by-step guide
Account, top-up in dirhams, plan and operating system, SSH key, first login: create a VPS from Morocco in six steps, with the real prices.
Published on
Creating a VPS in Morocco takes about ten minutes: an account, a top-up in dirhams, a plan, an operating system, and your server answers over SSH. This guide follows the real process on QuantylCloud, step by step, with current prices and what you should know before you pay.
What “a VPS in Morocco” means here
QuantylCloud is a Moroccan company: you pay in dirhams, with a Moroccan card or by bank transfer, you receive a Moroccan invoice with VAT, and support answers you in French.
The exact location of the servers will be published here as soon as it is settled. Do not assume they are in Morocco: if a legal or contractual obligation requires you to host your data there, wait for this information before you order.
What you need before you start
- an email address, to create the account and receive notifications about your server;
- at least 50 Dhs to top up: the service is prepaid;
- a terminal with SSH: the one on macOS or Linux, or PowerShell on Windows 10 and 11;
- optional but recommended: an SSH key (see step 5).
Step 1 — Create your account
Sign up from the Create an account page, then confirm your address with the link you receive by email. If you are ordering for a company, enter its ICE: it will appear on your invoices.
Step 2 — Top up your wallet in dirhams
Your account has a wallet in dirhams, debited as you consume. You can top it up from 50 Dhs, by Moroccan bank card on the secure CMI payment page (3-D Secure), or by bank transfer, which is more practical for a company. Every top-up gets a receipt, and an invoice with VAT summarizes your usage each month.
No international card, no currency conversion fees: this is the main difference from a foreign cloud billed in euros or dollars.
Step 3 — Choose a plan
Each plan has an hourly price and a monthly cap: you pay for the hours you actually use, never more than the cap for the month. Prices in dirhams, incl. VAT:
| Plan | vCPU | Memory | Disk | Per hour | Monthly cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1 | 2 GB | 25 GB | 0,28 Dhs | 199,00 Dhs |
| Standard | 2 | 4 GB | 50 GB | 0,42 Dhs | 299,00 Dhs |
| Performance | 4 | 8 GB | 100 GB | 0,75 Dhs | 499,00 Dhs |
| Agence | 8 | 16 GB | 200 GB | 1,40 Dhs | 999,00 Dhs |
To choose:
- a showcase site, a bot or a test environment fit on the smallest plan;
- a WordPress site with traffic, a web application with its database or an n8n instance are more comfortable with 2 vCPU and 4 GB of memory;
- several applications, Docker containers or an agency hosting its clients: aim higher.
When in doubt, start small: hourly billing lets you test a plan for a few days, then order another one and delete the first without losing anything but the hours you used.
Step 4 — Choose the operating system
If you are unsure, take the latest Ubuntu LTS: it is the best-documented distribution, and the one our guides follow. Available systems: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Debian 13, Debian 12, Rocky Linux 9, AlmaLinux 9, Fedora Server, openSUSE Leap, Arch Linux, LEMP, Node.js, Nextcloud, n8n, OpenClaw, Hermes Agent.
Some images come with an application already installed (Docker, WordPress, LAMP): handy to get started fast, but you remain the administrator of the server and its updates.
Step 5 — SSH key or root password
When you order, you can paste a public SSH key. This is the recommended method: no password to remember or to have stolen. To create one, from your terminal:
ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "vous@exemple.ma"
cat ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pubPaste the line printed by the second command, which starts with ssh-ed25519. Never share the file without .pub: that is your private key. With a key, the server accepts only that key over SSH: bots trying passwords get nowhere. The root password still exists, for the rescue console.
Without a key, a root password is generated. It is shown to you once in the console, then erased from our systems: copy it straight into a password manager.
Step 6 — Order and connect
Give your server a name, add an option if needed (daily backup, extra disk or IPv4 address), then confirm. The server is ready in a few minutes; its page in the console then shows its IP address. Connect:
ssh root@ADRESSE_IP
apt update && apt upgrade -yThe second command installs security updates: do it before anything else. Then remember to secure the server: key-only login, firewall, automatic updates.
What it really costs
- Billing starts when the server first boots successfully, not when you order.
- A creation that fails costs you nothing.
- A stopped server is still billed: its IP address and disk stay reserved. To stop paying altogether, delete it.
- Balance used up: the server is suspended, kept for 7 days, and restarts if you top up in time.
Example on the Standard plan: three days of testing cost 30,24 Dhs, two weeks 141,12 Dhs, and a full month never more than 299,00 Dhs.
What next?
Your server is yours: install a site, an application, an automation. If you would rather not do it yourself, our team can handle the setup: write to us.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pay for a VPS in dirhams, without an international card?
Yes. The QuantylCloud wallet is topped up in dirhams, from 50 Dhs, by Moroccan bank card or by transfer. No currency conversion fees.
How long does it take to create a VPS?
About ten minutes in all: a few minutes for the account and the top-up, then a few minutes of setup after you order.
Is a stopped VPS billed?
Yes: its IP address and disk stay reserved. To stop paying altogether, delete the server.
Does my data stay in Morocco?
Not necessarily. QuantylCloud is a Moroccan company that bills in dirhams, but the location of the servers is stated separately, in this guide and in the FAQ. If an obligation requires you to host in Morocco, check it before you order.
